Tom is a co-founder and member of Applied Licensing, LLC. Tom holds a B.S. degree in Physics from Alma College and a J.D. degree from Detroit College of Law. In addition, Tom studied electrical engineering at the University of Michigan College of Engineering for two years. Tom has been registered to practice as a patent attorney before the United States Patent and Trademark and as a member of the State Bar of Michigan since 1982. From 1982 to 1984 Tom was a founding partner in the law firm Brooks Kushman where he specialized in patent litigation. From 1984 to 1991, Tom was Corporate Director of Commercial Licensing at Unisys Corporation (formerly Burroughs Corporation), where Tom was responsible for the licensing and sales of the corporation’s patent assets. In 1991, Tom co-founded St. Clair Intellectual Property Consultants, Inc., a highly successful patent licensing and sales company, where Tom worked until 2015.
